Weston School Committee adds 0.25 FTE math section, approves METCO external review charge
WESTON — April 8, 2024 — Weston School Committee adds 0.25 FTE math section and finalizes METCO external review charge. The April 8 committee voted unanimously to transfer roughly $31,000 from Superintendent Dr. Anne Marie Zaleski's contingency to fund an additional AB Calculus section after enrollment data showed the class at 27 students, with elective demand running 32 seats short of supply district-wide. Chair Ken Newberg said elective capacity will be revisited May 20. The committee also approved revised guiding questions for the METCO external review, to be chaired by Emmanuel College vice president Keith Lazama, with a Boston meeting tentatively April 24 and a Weston site visit May 2. The outgoing Boston-Weston METCO Parent Organization chair, finishing 18 years in the district, used her annual report as an "exit interview," urging the committee to seek voting status for the BWMPO representative and to develop performance improvement plans for teachers who fail to foster inclusion. "If all truly means all," she said, "we can't have pockets of our community who don't feel like they belong."
