Weston Planning Board schedules working session on oversized Ridgeway Road home

WESTON — November 19, 2025 — Weston Planning Board continues review of a nearly 19,300-square-foot proposed home, setting a December 3 working session as the likely make-or-break meeting for the project. Chair Leslie Glynn and the full board pressed the development team behind 56 Ridgeway Road — an applicant identified as Mike — to reduce the home's gross square footage, which at 19,294 square feet is roughly 50 percent larger than the next-largest comparable in the neighborhood, and to break up massing that board members characterized as commercial rather than residential in scale. The applicant warned the board that continued demands for reductions could push the project toward subdivision or investment development, telling the board "we're getting to the point where we're building what the neighborhood wants and not what we want." In the same meeting, the board voted unanimously to close the public hearing for a traditionally styled home at Zero Wellesley Street, with a decision expected December 3, and approved a site plan amendment for the Josiah Smith Tavern at 828 Boston Post Road with conditions, including a required return visit before building permit on lighting; town planner Ema Imai also informed the tavern team that a 2009 ZBA record establishes they must obtain a parking variance before the restaurant can open.
