Planning Board declines to back leaf blower ban
Planning Board · Meeting of September 2, 2026
Weston Planning Board won't formally endorse a town-wide leaf blower ban, splitting over whether noise policy is within its zoning authority. Member Leslie Glynn argued the board already regulates noise through its 40-decibel property-line standard, while Member Timothy Shawn Lanier said he'd support the ban "as an individual" at town meeting but "would not vote as a member of the planning board in favor of this." A motion to formally back the ban died for lack of a second. Member Adrienne Giske described a Memorial Day weekend party near her home where "the windows were shaking and my husband's chair was actually shaking," citing it as evidence Weston needs a broader noise bylaw.
Separately, the board voted 5-0 to close its hearing on a revised 3,493-square-foot house at 3 October Lane, continued two other hearings to October 21, and kept working through a rewrite of its design standards, including new rules discouraging PVC fencing and capping driveway widths at 14 feet.
