Weston Planning Board Continues JST Review, Approves Hubbard Road Fence

WESTON — October 22, 2025 — Weston Planning Board clashes internally over requirements sent to Josiah Smith Tavern restaurant applicant. At the October 22 meeting, Chair Leslie Glynn and member Timothy Shawn Lanier defended an October 7 letter requiring stamped floor plans, engineer certification of an experimental septic system's capacity, and detailed exterior mechanical equipment documentation from a prospective restaurateur proposing a 40 percent occupancy increase — from roughly 103 to 145 persons — and a jump from nine to 39 on-street parking spaces. Member Alex Selvig, who said he had not been copied on the letter, called the requirements "Byzantine" and charged that Glynn had exceeded her authority; member Jing Yu and member Adrienne Giske also said they had not received the letter, though Yu sided with the substance. "We do not have my buy-in on this letter," Selvig said. The board voted unanimously to continue site review for 828 Boston Post Road to November 5, closed the hearing for a pool project at 67 Bay State Road, and approved a fence at 49 Hubbard Road; a Bank of America bollard proposal for 458 Boston Post Road was deferred pending consultation with the town center and traffic committees.
