Weston Historical Commission Imposes 12-Month Delay on Sudbury Road Demolition
WESTON — June 3, 2025 — Weston Historical Commission votes unanimously to impose a 12-month demolition delay on an 18 Sudbury Road gambrel house on a scenic road. Co-Chair Phyllis Halpern told applicant Amy Grimm the commission could lift the delay early if an agreement on a preservation-compatible outcome is reached, with the hold running until June 3, 2026. Commission members, several of them architects, outlined options including lifting the original structure for a new foundation, removing only a non-historic rear addition, and redesigning the layout to capture backyard views. A public hearing on 445 Glen Road was closed at the owners' request after they said they would reapply with updated plans; a hearing on 30 Warren Avenue was continued to July 1. The commission also voted to seek proposals from consultants to complete seven outstanding Form B historical inventory forms, estimated at roughly $300 each, against an annual budget of $4,500.
