WESTON — April 27, 2021 — Weston Historical Commission declines to find 1929 Silver Hill house significant. In a split April 27 vote, members Steve Wagner, Kathryn Scadden, Alfred Aydelott and Henry S. Stone Jr. voted that 34 Silver Hill Road, a French Renaissance-style cottage extensively remodeled since the late 1970s, lacked enough original fabric to warrant a delay review of a planned garage and family-room addition; Co-Chair Phyllis Halpern voted no and John Thompson abstained, calling himself "really torn." The same meeting cleared a 20-window Fibrex replacement at 95 Newton Street, advanced revised drawings for a 1905 colonial at 405 North Avenue to the Planning Board with conditions on shutters and ganged double-hung windows, and saw new 3 Apple Crest owner Brendan Hennessy ask the commission to pursue a CPA-funded preservation restriction on the Alpheus Bigelow Jr. Law Office. With a one-year demolition delay on 770 Boston Post Road expiring June 23, the commission voted to re-engage its 2020 engineer to document the building's deteriorating condition.
