Weston Historical Commission advances six applications, schedules extra March meeting

WESTON — March 7, 2023 — Weston Historical Commission advanced a slate of historic property applications at its March 7 meeting, approving one addition outright while flagging vinyl window replacements at two landmark Boston Post Road properties as unresolvable without more information. The commission voted unanimously to approve a family-room addition at 19 Viles Street, with a condition that the applicants return if corner boards are required on new cementitious shingle siding. A proposed replacement of 45 windows with Harvey vinyl units at 348 Boston Post Road — described by members as one of the most-viewed houses in town — was continued to April 4 after members including Alfred Aydelott and Henry S. Stone, Jr. refused to endorse vinyl, with Stone warning that "all those windows go into the landfill, every one of them." A separate window application at the circa-1824 Marshall Jones house at 510 Boston Post Road was advanced to an April 4 public hearing after the commission unanimously found it significant. The board also voted to return $2,825 in unspent Community Preservation Committee funds from a 2016 deed-restriction project at 55 Coburn Road, and scheduled an additional business meeting for March 20 to address agenda overflow.
