Weston governance panel finalizes draft survey, sets June listening session

WESTON — April 4, 2024 — Weston Town Governance Study Committee finalizes draft survey and targets early June listening session. Chair Harvey Boshart and member Kara Fleming walked the panel through two Survey Monkey questionnaires — one for volunteers and town employees, one for residents — to run roughly three weeks and distribute through the town website, schools, the Council on Aging, the library, Weston Media Center, the OWL and local nonprofits. Member Michael Harrity warned the open-ended format would be "very hard to sort through." The preamble will tell respondents to set aside the prior town meeting vote on expanding the Select Board from three to five so it does not "dilute the initial data collection." Members Michael Harrity and John Thompson presented a timeline backing into the May 2025 Annual Town Meeting, with a Select Board check-in targeted for Jan. 7, 2025. Town Moderator Rip Hastings and member Glenn Cross will catalog all Weston committees and assemble a peer-town comparison.
