Weston Finance Committee approved new standards for evaluating fall town meeting proposals. Chair Maija Cirulis-Gooch led the committee in unanimously adopting revised guidance requiring presenters to provide transparent data and disclose long-term and multi-year costs, and added a new criterion asking whether proposals would improve or expand municipal services. The committee approved presentations from six proposal categories, including the school feasibility study, Regis College assisted living site proposal, Fire Department revolving fund request, departmental budget amendments, and Town-School Facilities capital request.
The committee also flagged concern that the School Committee's five-bus leasing proposal had not been brought to Finance Committee review before presentation.
