Weston Finance Committee installs new chair, presses School Committee on bus-lease surprise. The committee is sorting a near-record Community Preservation Committee applicant slate ahead of fall Town Meeting, including an $875,000 Bircher Park playground request, an $835,000 Merriam Village affordable-housing request, and $800,000 combined for apartment window and HVAC upgrades, alongside a $2.75 million high school and middle school feasibility study Town Manager Leon Gaumond called the warrant's "biggest cost item." Cirulis-Gooch also flagged the School Committee's 3-2 vote to lease five buses without consulting her panel first, calling the tally "uncommon," and members agreed to draft a letter and invite school administrators to explain the decision.
