Weston CPC Votes Unanimously to Fund Housing Plan Update at Up to $75,000

WESTON — September 29, 2025 — Weston's Community Preservation Committee unanimously approved up to $75,000 to update the town's Housing Production Plan before it expires in September 2026. Housing liaison Leon Wagner presented the application at the September 29 virtual hearing, telling the committee the $75,000 figure represents the market rate set by the Regional Housing Service Office but that the final cost could fall to $35,000 or less if work is bundled with the Barrett Group's ongoing Unified Master Plan engagement, which already includes a community housing chapter. The Select Board, Finance Committee, and Affordable Housing Trust had each endorsed the application before the hearing, owing to an accelerated town meeting schedule. Wagner said the plan must be certified by the Commonwealth to give Weston its full legal standing to reject unwanted 40B developments, and he hopes to complete that certification before the May town meeting. A public steering committee is already being recruited.
