Weston Conservation Commission Approves Golf Course Irrigation, Glen Road Garage

WESTON — September 30, 2025 — Weston Conservation Commission unanimously approved a new irrigation system for the state-owned Leo Martin Golf Course and cleared a Glen Road garage replacement at its September 30 meeting. The commission voted to close the public hearing and issue an order of conditions for the golf course project, presented by Aaron Sebs of Tighe & Bond on behalf of the Department of Conservation and Recreation, which involves a two-wire irrigation system allowing individual sprinkler-head control, green reconstruction at holes seven and the practice green, and demolition of an abandoned pump house on the Newton side of the Charles River; construction is targeted for spring 2026. The commission also voted separately to formally close a related 2020 order of conditions — MassDEP file 337-1392 — that expired after the earlier project lost funding and was never recorded at the registry of deeds. A Negative 2 Determination of Applicability was issued for a garage replacement on Glen Road, where new impervious area of 723 square feet fell just under the town's 750-square-foot stormwater threshold; applicants agreed to submit a native-species planting palette as a condition. DCR representative Raul Silva acknowledged the course had been ranked the worst public golf course in America, calling it "a challenge" his agency is "excited to move forward" on.
