Weston CPC Hears Four Applications Totaling $1.454 Million at February Meeting
WESTON -- February 11, 2026, Weston's Community Preservation Committee conducted preliminary reviews of four applications totaling roughly $1.454 million at its February 11 hybrid meeting, with all items continued to a February 23 public hearing. Tom Timko, chair of the Weston Elderly Housing Committee, presented a $1 million request to convert vacant basement space in Brook School Building A into two elderly housing units at 80 percent of AMI, with cost estimates coming in under $500,000 per unit, about $100,000 less than projected. Recreation Commission member Trevor MacDonald sought up to $400,000 toward a $525,000 project to light Field 1 near Wellesley Street, warning that a potential high school building project could take seven town athletic fields offline in coming years; the school budget, he said, could not fund the lights for at least three to five years. Recreation Commission member Jess Catlin requested $50,000 in design fees for Weston's first north-side playground at Burchard Park, with a construction request of up to $500,000 anticipated for fall 2026. A $4,000 tree canopy application went unheard after its presenter did not attend.
