Weston CPC recommends $172,000 for cemeteries and housing support

WESTON -- March 23, 2020, Weston CPC backs $172,000 in CPA spending and resists consent-agenda treatment. Meeting remotely under Gov. Baker's emergency orders, the Community Preservation Committee on March 23 unanimously recommended $140,000 for Phase 3 cemetery restoration and $32,000 to continue the Regional Housing Services Office contract supporting the Weston Affordable Housing Trust. Historical Commission co-chair Steven Wagner said $117,000 of the cemetery request covers structural reinforcement of six collapsing tombs at Central Cemetery, designed by Structures North; the cumulative CPA investment across three phases reaches $470,000. Members urged the Select Board not to bundle CPC articles on the May consent agenda. "It's not a housekeeping issue. It's new every year," member Sue Zacharias said. The committee also approved a $13,000 housekeeping reallocation to the community-housing bucket and projected a $3.1 million fund balance at June 30.
