Weston CPC Greenlights $9,900 Survey for All-Affordable Housing Parcel

WESTON — October 15, 2018 — Weston CPC unanimously approves $9,900 to launch site study for all-affordable housing parcel. The Community Preservation Committee voted October 15 to fund wetland delineation, soil testing, and topographical survey work at the town-owned Zero Wellesley Street site, a three-acre corner parcel authorized by town meeting for 100 percent affordable housing. Sarah Brannigan of the Weston Affordable Housing Trust said roughly one and a half acres appear buildable and that the trust could issue an RFP for a private development partner by approximately January 1, with a fall 2019 town meeting request for construction funds described as optimistic at best. The committee also heard a detailed case for a $247,000 preservation restriction on 120 Summer Street, the so-called Lilac House, appraised at $960,000 before restriction and $713,000 after, which a Historical Commission representative called one of only three surviving first-period houses in Weston. Both items advance to a public hearing October 22.
