Weston Conservation Commission unanimously backs Eileen Fava for open seat
WESTON — July 16, 2024 — Weston Conservation Commission votes unanimously to recommend attorney Eileen Fava for its vacant seat. The commission interviewed Fava, a 22-year town resident pursuing an LLM in environmental law at Vermont Law School, at its July 16 meeting and immediately forwarded a unanimous recommendation to the Select Board so she could be interviewed the same evening. The board also issued certificates of compliance for 14 Byron Road and 2 Aspen Road, both 5-0, after staff reported that two-year invasive plant management and restoration programs monitored by LEC Environmental had been successfully completed at each site. The commission continued the 183 Conant Road demolish-and-rebuild hearing to August 13, pending resolution of a DPW objection to a septic system that extends roughly five feet into the Conant Road right-of-way. Staff announced the hiring of Isis Rivera to fill a vacant conservation staff position, with a target start of July 29, and the commission agreed to schedule a formal discussion of the Article 97 land swap — which requires a unanimous commission vote — for its July 30 meeting.
