Weston Conservation Commission to Study Cat Rock Parking Fix After Resident Complaints

WESTON — October 14, 2025 — Weston Conservation Commission takes up Cat Rock Park parking crisis at Indian Hill Road trailhead. A resident and Traffic and Sidewalk Committee member, Anne Weedy of 240 Highland Street, told the commission Tuesday that roughly a dozen cars regularly line the private right-of-way at the end of Indian Hill Road, leaving no room for drivers to turn around except in an abutting homeowner's driveway, while loose dogs have killed the homeowner's chickens and injured visitors. Conservation staff confirmed with DPW Director Rich Sullivan that the affected road section is private, limiting police enforcement options, and noted that the trailhead gate was destroyed by a fallen oak removed just the day before the meeting. Chair Rees Tulloss and staff agreed to schedule a joint site visit with the homeowner and research deed language before deciding whether to install marked parking spaces inside the commission's own conservation parcel — a move that may also require review by town counsel given the land's Article 97 protection status. The commission also unanimously approved certificates of compliance for a 1991 barn structure at 15 Hobbs Brook and a 2002 garage addition at 426 Conant Road, both found fully stabilized on site visits.
