Weston committee advances Gun Club Lane parking plan with signs and barriers

WESTON — March 17, 2021 — Weston Traffic and Sidewalk Committee moves toward signs and log barriers on Gun Club Lane. At its March 17 remote meeting, the committee took up a third round of discussion on parking that blocks emergency vehicle access to the Jericho Forest trailhead, with resident Yet Ming presenting a GIS map proposing designated head-in spaces, no-parking signs and physical barriers. Weston Forest and Trail Association stewardship director Kristin Barbieri said WFTA's executive board has approved no parking past the trailhead corner and is open to extending the barrier zone, and confirmed fire department testing showed the truck cannot turn when both sides are parked or snow narrows the road. Member Andrew Chase proposed "parking only" bookend signs modeled on the MBTA lot near the transfer station. Chair Jim Doyle endorsed the flip: "By definition parking anywhere else is illegal." Resident Casey Wren separately reported weekend parking on Indian Hill Road jumping from three cars to 20.
