Weston Agricultural Commission recommends two new members, plans April farm visit

WESTON — February 7, 2023 — Weston Agricultural Commission moves to add two new members and plan its first public farm event. Chair Kent Lundberg led the February 7 meeting at which applicants Derek Hoi, a vertical-farm worker at Crop One in Millis, and Joe Dwyer, a construction industry executive with a background in outdoor farming and hunting, introduced themselves before the commission agreed unanimously to forward a favorable recommendation to the Select Board. The board is expected to vote on the appointments later this month. Members also confirmed the commission is not listed on the town's "Notify Me" subscription page and agreed to pursue a dedicated email address and listserv before their next meeting. A livestock farm visit tentatively set for April 15 at Lundberg's goat and llama farm prompted an unresolved question about whether a quorum of members attending an informal event triggers open-meeting law requirements — a matter Lundberg said he will research before the commission reconvenes February 28.
