Weston AgCom Maps Four Farm Education Events for 2023 Season
WESTON — December 13, 2022 — Weston Agricultural Commission plans four public farm-education events for 2023. Chair Avery Chaplin and two fellow commissioners sketched out a spring-through-fall lineup at the December 13 online meeting, including a cashmere goat brushing at Chaplin's farm in late March or early April, a second farm visit in May, a small-scale crop-gardening presentation with local operation Land's Sake, and a backyard-chickens session tentatively in October. The commission voted 3-0 to approve its October 18 minutes. Chaplin reported that the Massachusetts Farm Bureau declined to provide a speaker for a planned Chapter 61A tax-classification session, pushing that topic — along with land-sharing and climate-change content — to a fall review after the four primary events. The group set its next meeting for February 7, 2023, and noted that one to three volunteer commission seats remain open with no application deadline.
