Select Board unanimously approves liquor license for The Woods at Josiah Smith Tavern
WESTON — November 26, 2024 — Weston Select Board unanimously approves all-alcohol license for The Woods at the Josiah Smith Tavern. Town Manager Leon Gaumond said the restaurateur appeared at the Nov. 26 hybrid meeting and drew only supportive public comment before the vote, which now goes to the Commonwealth for final issuance. The board, with three members present, also took positions on the Dec. 3 Special Town Meeting warrant: 2-0 with one abstention on the water tank appropriation and bylaw change, 3-0 on the related land swap, and 2-0 with one abstention on the zero Hobbs conveyance. Members unanimously backed ADU bylaw changes, Unified Planning Committee funding, and three CPC articles totaling $89,000 — $20,000 for Historical Commission studies, $19,000 for cricket-pitch repairs, and $50,000 to update the Open Space and Recreation Plan — plus a $130,000 housing rehab appropriation. The board took no position on the 3A article, leaving it "up to the voters of Weston." Donors Eric and Deanna Lund were thanked for the town-center flags and flagpoles.
