Select Board restructures water tank working group, advances Route 30 design

WESTON — January 14, 2025 — Weston Select Board reshapes water tank oversight after $43 million December rejection. The board reached consensus Tuesday to stand up a revised water tank working group consisting of all three members, Town Manager Leon Gaumond, DPW Director Tom Cullen and Wright-Pierce engineers, meeting under Open Meeting Law on off-weeks. Chair Tom Palmer said roughly $243,000 of a $1.3 million design appropriation has been spent and declined to revisit the three-tank strategy, site selections or the Chapter 97 land swap. Member Lise Revers pushed for resident participation, peer review, possible mediation with Cat Rock abutters, and limiting any bylaw change to the three specific sites. Member Lori Bent announced she will not seek re-election after five and a half years, warning, "This town runs on trust and goodwill. Without trust and goodwill, everything falls apart." Earlier, the board voted 2-0, Palmer recused, to forward Traffic and Sidewalk Committee recommendations on the Route 30 shared-use path to Howard Stein Hudson for 75 percent design.
