Select Board endorses Greatland zoning articles ahead of Saturday Town Meeting
WESTON -- May 14, 2021, Weston Select Board unanimously backs Greatland zoning articles on eve of Town Meeting. Meeting Friday morning, Chair Laurie Bent and members Christopher Houston and Harvey Boshart voted 3-0 to support Articles 31 and 33 and to authorize execution of a development agreement committing Greatland to roughly $5.1 million in payments and improvements, with Boshart designated to approve final edits. Boshart cited a projected $1.25 million per year in new property tax revenue "without any increase in demand of town services" and a land swap consolidating scattered municipal parcels into a 1.7-acre lot for potential future housing. Town Counsel Lauren Goldberg of KP Law said late revisions, including statutory citations on the affordable housing contribution and conforming Saturday construction hours to town regulations, "really don't change any of the expectations of the parties." Town Meeting was set for 2 p.m. Saturday on the football field.
