Select Board endorses Greatland zoning articles ahead of Saturday Town Meeting

WESTON — May 14, 2021 — Weston Select Board unanimously backs Greatland zoning articles on eve of Town Meeting. Meeting Friday morning, Chair Laurie Bent and members Christopher Houston and Harvey Boshart voted 3-0 to support Articles 31 and 33 and to authorize execution of a development agreement committing Greatland to roughly $5.1 million in payments and improvements, with Boshart designated to approve final edits. Boshart cited a projected $1.25 million per year in new property tax revenue "without any increase in demand of town services" and a land swap consolidating scattered municipal parcels into a 1.7-acre lot for potential future housing. Town Counsel Lauren Goldberg of KP Law said late revisions — including statutory citations on the affordable housing contribution and conforming Saturday construction hours to town regulations — "really don't change any of the expectations of the parties." Town Meeting was set for 2 p.m. Saturday on the football field.
