Historical Commission approves Meadowbrook garage, continues four hearings to January

WESTON — December 8, 2020 — Weston Historical Commission approves one garage, continues four hearings, and returns CPA funds at packed Dec. 8 session. The commission unanimously cleared a rebuilt garage at 301 Meadowbrook Road designed by architect Michael Collins for owners Ryan and Jenny Dessert, with cedar shingles, Marvin Elevate windows, and carriage-style doors. It found the 1884 stick-style house at 8 Hemlock Road significant and scheduled a Jan. 5 hearing, telling owner Mike Nerczynski his architect's Georgian portico belongs "on another house, not this one." A 97 Vogel Street demolition request was continued after member Alfred Aydelott warned the combined lots fall 10 feet short of zoning frontage: "If you tear it down right away and you don't have a decision from the ZBA, you're up the creek." The commission returned preservation-restriction funds for 120 Summer Street and 251 Merriam Street to the Community Preservation Committee, approved $600 for black locust sign posts, and marked the final meeting of chair Alicia, who will stay on as an unpaid consultant.
