Conservation Commission greenlights Eagle Scout's Cat Rock bridge rebuild

WESTON -- January 7, 2025, Conservation Commission approves Eagle Scout's Cat Rock Park footbridge rebuild. Life Scout Austin Merrill, 17, won a 5-0 vote Jan. 7 to widen and rebuild the deteriorating bridge near the Cat Rock pond, swapping rotting wooden supports for corrugated plastic pipe and adding eight-foot ramps so cyclists can cross. "If I could create a bridge where someone could walk with their dog side by side, that would definitely improve someone's enjoyment while at the park," Merrill told the commission. Chair Rees Tulloss and Conservation Administrator Jordan McCarron said the support method has been used at College Pond and the Weston Reservoir. The commission also opened hearings on a 4,400-square-foot teardown-and-rebuild at 128 Sudbury Road and amenity upgrades at BXP's 350,000-square-foot 133 Boston Post Road office complex, continuing both to Feb. 4.
