Conservation Commission closes hearings on Southside drainage Phase 3 and DCR pedestrian bridge

WESTON — November 9, 2021 — Weston Conservation Commission closes hearings on Phase 3 Southside drainage and DCR pedestrian bridge. Chair Joe Berman led a 5-0 vote to close the Shady Hill–Ledgewood drainage hearing after Wright Pierce engineer Larry Rezeki and Town Engineer Steve Fogg walked the commission through written responses on tree removal, pipe buoyancy and wetland sequencing; wetland consultant Chuck Karen identified eight trees to be removed, mitigated by 36 native plantings — "over twice what your tree removal policy requires," Rezeki said. The commission also invoked MGL Ch. 44 §53G to retain Patrick Garner as peer-review consultant. Separately, a DCR pedestrian-bridge order of conditions was closed with conditions "basically identical" to Newton's. Engineer Peter Bemis won approvals for septic work at 25 Hubbard Road and an addition at 150 Sherburne Circle with 12 native shrubs as riverfront mitigation. Eagle Scout Holden Langenhagen received approval for a Nov. 20 trail-and-sign project at the 1926 Merriam barn ruins, backed by up to $500 from the Historical Commission.
