Conservation Commission approves Habitat for Humanity six-unit project on Wellesley Street

WESTON — January 4, 2022 — Weston Conservation Commission clears Habitat for Humanity six-unit 40B at zero Wellesley Street. The commission voted 4-0 on Jan. 4 to issue an order of conditions for the three-building, 3.2-acre town-owned project, contingent on a state DEP file number, with Chair Joe Berman recused as a neighbor. Engineer Rob Gemma of Metro West Engineering said the project adds about 15,000 square feet of impervious surface, disturbs roughly one acre, places no work within the 25-foot no-disturbance zone, and uses a Title 5 advanced-treatment septic system sited 200 feet from a Cambridge water-supply tributary. Cambridge Water Department's Jamie O'Connell said her department was satisfied after a grass infiltration basin was relocated outside the 200-foot stream zone. Commissioners separately approved a Weston Forest and Trail Association cedar grove for future trail boardwalks 5-0, requesting a written report by June 1, and amended and extended an expired order of conditions at 441 Glenn Road for a four-car "car barn" whose foundation will double as a stormwater infiltration cavern.
