Weston Select Board sends $43M water project and 3A bylaw to Dec. 3 voters

WESTON — October 22, 2024 — Weston Select Board finalizes Dec. 3 warrant anchored by $43M water project and contested 3A bylaw. The board voted unanimously to approve the Special Town Meeting warrant authorizing borrowing for three water storage tanks, mains and pumping infrastructure at roughly $43.5 million, including about $5.5 million in contingencies on a $32.5 million construction estimate from Wright-Pierce. Member Lise Revers pushed back on the pace, saying residents are being asked to vote on "a 42 million dollar project" with under six weeks of financial detail. The board placed the MBTA 3A compliance bylaw on the warrant without a recommendation and approved a roughly $2,000 mailer to every household; a proposed companion 3A litigation reserve was dropped. A contested article conveying the town-owned Zero Hobbs Brook parcel at a $200,000 minimum bid was reordered to follow the 3A vote pending a legal opinion. The board also appointed Allen Day to the Cultural Council and designated Revers to the Middle/High School building working group.
