Weston Finance Committee appoints Wilberton, backs $180,000 in Town Meeting articles
WESTON — October 23, 2024 — Weston Finance Committee fills its vacancy and backs two CPA articles for Special Town Meeting. The committee unanimously appointed Michael Wilberton, a small-bank CFO with 25-plus years in finance, to fill a two-year unexpired term, on a recommendation from a subcommittee of Jonathan Harris, Zachary Sadek and member Lisa. Members also unanimously endorsed a $50,000 Community Preservation Committee request to update the Open Space and Recreation Plan — reduced from $65,000 after coordination with the Unified Plan Committee — and a $130,000 Affordable Housing Trust appropriation for housing rehabilitation grants. Trust Chair Tom Timko said costs have roughly doubled on items like roofing, calling it "kind of a losing battle against the market." The committee tabled a $100,000 master plan Phase 2 article that Town Administrator Leon Gaumond conceded is "at least 75 to 80 percent more expensive" than initially projected.
