Weston Select Board opens special town meeting warrant, appoints Cultural Council member

WESTON — September 10, 2024 — Weston Select Board opens December 3 special town meeting warrant with an October 11 citizen-petition deadline. Town Manager Leon Gaumond, recapping the September 10 meeting, said the board spent the bulk of the session in a joint discussion with the Planning Board on how Weston might comply with the MBTA Communities Housing Choice Act, Section 3A, and how it might regulate accessory dwelling units under a new state housing law. Select Board Chair Thomas Palmer, Gaumond, and member Susan Kelly have been working with a consultant on a possible restructuring of the town's water rates, though no decisions were made and a special meeting was expected the following week. The board appointed Heidi Price to the Weston Cultural Council, referred a water tank zoning bylaw change to the Planning Board for a required public hearing, tabled an emergency access road discussion pending a stakeholder walkthrough at Woodland School, and approved a consent agenda that included closing Brook Road for Halloween trick-or-treating.
