WESTON — February 26, 2025 — Weston Media Center warns Select Board of 2027-2028 funding cliff. Director Nathan Schur and Treasurer Joel Angelillo told the board the cable-funded nonprofit finished 2024 about $30,900 in the red on $239,000 of revenue and projects a $57,000 deficit in 2025, with more than $200,000 in reserves that will run out within roughly three years as cord-cutting erodes franchise revenue. The station broadcast 216 government meetings in 2024 and launched the Weston Hub events calendar, now at 800-plus subscribers. Chair Tom Pomeroy asked for a written plan with a specific ask; Member Lori Bent warned against waiting until reserves are depleted, while Member Lise Revers cautioned that direct town funding would raise editorial-independence questions. Town Manager Leon Gaumond proposed a broader community conversation involving Finance Committee and town boards. Separately, the board voted 3-0 to designate Pomeroy to the DPW director screening committee and 3-0 to appoint a new Traffic and Sidewalk Committee member.
