Planning Board continues water tank zoning hearing to March 5

WESTON -- February 26, 2025, Weston Planning Board punts water tank zoning to March 5 ahead of Special Town Meeting. The board voted unanimously to continue its public hearing on a citizen-petitioned bylaw that would allow municipal water tanks to exceed residential height limits by right, after town planner Imai Aiu unveiled three late amendments, defining "appurtenances," naming the three tank parcels, and confirming buildability after a conservation-land swap. Lead petitioner Allen Day backed planning-board amendments; Select Board member Lori Bent told the board a variance pathway "would slow the process down by two or three years." Town Moderator Rip Lougee urged maximum advance notice. Separately, the board heard a 2-to-1 replanting plan, 52 native trees for 26 removed, at 7 Prescott Lane, where Chair Leslie Glynn called the unauthorized cutting "a crying shame," and continued a 96 Love Lane perimeter-fence request to April 2 to involve the Historical Commission.
