Weston Select Board bans Love Lane turns from Route 20
WESTON — October 12, 2021 — Weston Select Board unanimously bans key Love Lane turns from Route 20. The board voted 3-0 Tuesday to prohibit left turns from Love Lane northbound onto Route 20 westbound and right turns from Route 20 eastbound onto Love Lane southbound, ending a multi-year cut-through dispute. The restrictions apply 24 hours a day with no resident exceptions, structured as permanent so Waze and Google Maps will update routing. DPW Director Tom Cullen also told the board that the town has resurfaced 32.4 of 87 miles of public roads since 2006, that hot-mix asphalt has risen from $72 to $78 per ton under the current contract, and that he now expects Weston to hit its Pavement Condition Index 70 goal in five or six years rather than 10. Member Chris Houston defended the FY22 paving appropriation of $1.8 million — itself a compromise from $2 million — saying the town is "still arguably under-funding" the program.
