Weston Select Board approves Brook Road Halloween road closure 3-0

WESTON — October 25, 2022 — Weston Select Board approves Brook Road Halloween road closure over neighbor objections. The three-member board voted 3-0 on October 25 to grant a block party permit to Michelle and Paul Raymond of 6 Brook Road, authorizing a full road closure on Halloween night with a police detail and barricades. Chair Lise N. Revers raised concerns about precedent — "I don't want to get in the business of deciding what street is more halloweeny than another" — but said the board would revisit the policy if competing streets sought similar permits in future years. Long-time Halloween organizer Brenda DeVito opposed the closure, arguing it would push parking and foot traffic onto dangerous adjacent roads including Conant Road. The board also agreed to pursue a town-wide master plan, with member Harvey Bozzard leading a governance component that could include examining the size and structure of elected boards, and member Laurie Bent coordinating with the Planning Board on scope.
