Weston Planning Board Closes Highland Hearing, Sends Wellesley Design Back Again

WESTON — November 2, 2022 — Weston Planning Board closes one Scenic Road hearing and continues another as massing concerns persist. At the November 2 meeting, Chair Leslie Glynn and members Timothy Shawn Lanier and a member identified as Lori voted 3-0 to close the public hearing on 355 Highland Street after the applicant's team reduced the roof pitch and added landscaping screening, with a formal decision and conditions set for November 16. The board voted 3-0 to continue the 645 Wellesley Street hearing to December 7 after finding the redesigned house — reduced from roughly 5,990 to approximately 4,915 square feet RGFA but still running lot-line to lot-line within the setbacks — "too much house on too narrow a lot," in Glynn's words. The board also voted 3-0 to approve a four-foot-ten-inch security gate and 68-lumen LED downlights at 40 Westerly Road, while pledging to develop a formal policy on security gates, and received a resident request to replace deteriorating guardrails in the Silver Hill historic district with wooden replacements consistent with a 2016 town engineering study.
