Weston School Committee approves revised 2026-2027 calendar, advances social-emotional screener pilot

WESTON — December 1, 2025 — Weston School Committee approves a revised 2026-2027 school calendar and hears the district's first social-emotional screening plan. The committee voted unanimously at its December 1 meeting to adopt the revised calendar, which adds four no-kindergarten days and moves a professional development day from January 15 to February 12. Chair Daina Selvig and colleagues also received a pilot overview for SABERS, a universal social-emotional screener set to launch at Fields Elementary and the middle school in February 2026, with the administration noting data would be reviewed in April and a potential budget ask — possibly for additional clinical staff — could follow. Principals presented program-of-studies updates tied to a new 10-day rotation at the high school, including a limit of one study hall block per cycle for most students and the elimination of J-Term at the middle school; a formal committee vote on those updates is on hold pending the conclusion of impact bargaining with the Weston Education Association.
