Weston School Committee approves ninth kindergarten section and preschool tuition hike

WESTON — June 13, 2022 — Weston School Committee votes to expand kindergarten and phase up preschool tuition. The committee voted unanimously at its June 13 meeting to add a ninth kindergarten section at Country School after six of eight existing sections reached the 21-student policy cap before summer. Chair Kenneth Newberg also led the board to approve a phased tuition increase for the Weston Windows preschool, raising the annual rate by $400 each semester starting September 1, from $9,020 to a projected $11,020 over five increases, as the district estimated the true per-child cost at no less than $12,742.80. The board accepted Superintendent Michelle Connelly's summative evaluation with an exemplary rating for instructional leadership and approved a 2.5 percent average salary increase for non-aligned staff. Public comment was dominated by METCO parents, who said a leadership change announced the evening of the June 3 graduation was "not transparent at all" and demanded a meeting with the administration.
