Weston Planning Board votes against recommending MBTA 3A zoning plan to town meeting
WESTON — April 22, 2025 — Weston Planning Board voted 2-1 against recommending its MBTA 3A multifamily zoning plan to the May 5 town meeting, while also finding unanimously that the revised plan is not significantly different from one residents defeated 195-540 last December. Chair Leslie Glynn outlined five parallel compliance strategies — including a pending lawsuit against the state, an unfunded-mandate appeal in superior court, and a long-term zoning approach targeting parcels unlikely ever to be developed — but acknowledged the town cannot meet the July 14, 2025 EHOLC deadline regardless. Town Counsel Amy Questel confirmed the Attorney General holds enforcement authority under Chapter 12, Section 10 and could seek fines or a contempt order against the town. The board voted 2-1 in a separate action to rezone the town-owned 0 Riverside Road parcel to multifamily housing, and unanimously approved a revised FEMA floodplain bylaw for town meeting consideration; a public hearing on Greatland Realty Partners' request to add a 10,000-square-foot restaurant use at Riverside Labs was continued to April 30 pending capacity and hours-of-operation data from the prospective operator, Craft Food Hall.
