Weston Planning Board sets RFP for rules rewrite, eyes May overlay bylaw

WESTON — January 13, 2021 — Weston Planning Board commits to rules rewrite and targets May Town Meeting for historic overlay bylaw. At a Jan. 13 priority-setting session, Chair Alicia Primer and Town Planner Imaikalani Aiu agreed to release a request for proposals for a consultant to consolidate several hundred pages of subdivision rules, special-permit rules, design guidelines and standard conditions over a roughly six-month timeline. Members targeted a historic heritage overlay district — illustrated by the Henderson House on West Cliff Road — and a related accessory-apartment expansion for the May Town Meeting, while pushing a smaller-homes incentive bylaw to fall. Vice Chair Alex Selvig said the town's standards are "a little bit loosey-goosey" and need to be clearly published. Member Leslie Glynn said the well requirement for irrigation may not survive new data from DPW smart meters. Katarina Carlson said the $100,000 WestonCARES climate plan will land at the end of April with overlapping goals.
