Conservation Commission continues 14 Byron Road hearing, approves Cart Path Road teardown

WESTON — January 19, 2021 — Weston Conservation Commission continues contested 14 Byron Road hearing to Feb. 2 after abutter pushback. Chair Joe Berman scoped public comment to wetlands-only impacts but heard from attorney George Heiler, representing Trisha and Scott Scarpato of 22 Byron Road, who cited 31 years of basement flooding history and retained hydrogeologist Ray Talkington to review runoff. Meridian Associates engineer Mark Beaudry described adding 844 square feet of buffer-zone impervious surface — a 20 percent increase — for an enclosed squash court and open pavilion, with Cultec chambers and a rain garden sized for the 100-year storm. The commission also unanimously closed and issued an order of conditions for engineer Rob Gemma's 40 Cart Path Road teardown-and-rebuild, which cuts direct wetland runoff by 8 to 12 percent, and issued three certificates of compliance. The meeting was Conservation Administrator Michelle's last as a full-time Weston employee before a negotiated part-time transition.
