Weston Planning Board receives first pitch for 215-unit senior housing complex
WESTON — December 17, 2025 — Weston Planning Board fields first presentation on proposed 215-unit senior housing complex at former Regis College parcel. The Boston-based HYM Investment Group, led by CEO Tom O'Brien, outlined plans for a 30-acre site at 300 Wellesley Street that would include 24 independent living cottages and a 191-unit main building rising to 52 feet, with the company estimating approximately $2 million in annual property tax revenue. HYM is seeking a zoning overlay district requiring a two-thirds town meeting vote, targeting May 2026, with a special permit process to follow. Planning Board Chair Leslie Glynn pushed the developer on affordable housing, saying 15 percent should be "your lowest number." Several Colonial Way abutters raised concerns about lighting, traffic, and tree loss, and one resident questioned whether the proposal differed meaningfully from an earlier development the town had sued. In a separate dispute, the board unanimously continued to January 7 a matter involving homeowners at 501 Glen Street who planted a required replacement sugar maple in their front yard without board approval rather than in the rear yard specified in their permit.
