Weston Planning Board Opens 3A Compliance Hearing With October Town Meeting Vote Looming

WESTON — September 3, 2025 — Weston Planning Board opens hearings on MBTA 3A compliance plan with October 15 town meeting vote as deadline. Planning Board Chair Leslie Glynn and Select Board Chair Lisa Revers presented a four-district zoning overlay plan Wednesday night designed to bring Weston into compliance with the state MBTA Communities Act; the town has been out of compliance since July 15. The plan centers on a phased development of the Boston Properties site at 133 Boston Post Road — dubbed "Cori Pond Village" by former Planning Board Chair Al Adeloff — plus long-term overlays at Miriam Village, the 751 Boston Post Road 40B project, and the Maplewood Assisted Living and Charles River Recovery properties on Norambega Road. Revers warned that a $270,000 school literacy grant is now explicitly conditioned on passage at the October 15 special town meeting, and that the state Attorney General has signaled enforcement action — including possible daily fines and grant withholding — beginning January 1, 2026. The board also voted unanimously to close a public hearing on a refinement of the town's earth removal bylaw and recommend that article to town meeting, directing staff to prepare a formal recommendation before the next session.
