Weston Planning Board elects Glynn chair, Lanier vice chair for coming year

WESTON — June 21, 2023 — Weston Planning Board unanimously re-elected Chair Leslie Glynn and named Timothy Shawn Lanier vice chair at its June 21 meeting, while a separate 4-1 vote to appoint member Adrienne Giske as the board's sole representative to the town's Unified Master Plan Committee exposed a fault line over planning board authority. Member Alex Selvig voted no, arguing that one vote among roughly ten on the unified committee leaves the planning board — the body charged under Massachusetts General Law with land use planning — without meaningful influence over the outcome. The board continued a public hearing on 405 North Avenue, a historic farmhouse addition and driveway relocation, to July 26, citing unresolved coordination between the applicant's architect and the Historical Commission. It continued 461 Conant Road, a proposed net-zero one-story replacement home of 5,100 square feet RGFA on a 2.4-acre lot, to July 12, flagging non-standard stormwater outlet detailing near Bogglebrook and wildlife displacement concerns raised by abutters. The board closed the hearing on 8 Saddle Hill Road and voted 5-0 to approve that interior renovation project with noise and lighting conditions attached.
