Weston Planning Board continues three zoning hearings after webinar objections

WESTON — October 16, 2024 — Weston Planning Board halts three zoning hearings after webinar dispute. Meeting Oct. 16, the board voted 4-0 on three separate motions to continue public hearings on the MBTA 3A multifamily overlay, an accessory dwelling unit bylaw and a water tank bylaw to Nov. 6 after residents and Boston land use attorney Dan Hill, representing 1111 Bradford Road owner Michael Chasen, objected that the Zoom webinar format hid the attendee list from the public and had not been advertised as a webinar. Vice Chair Timothy Shawn Lanier, presiding in Chair Leslie Glynn's absence, agreed it was "not prudent to proceed." Tom Timko of the Weston Housing Trust warned the board was "skirting the edges of an Open Meeting Law violation." Member Jing Yu dissented on adjourning, citing the 40-person attendance. A 22 Church Street hearing was separately continued to Nov. 20 at the applicant's request.
