Weston Planning Board continues scenic road rebuild case, approves two Boston Post Road permits
WESTON — October 12, 2022 — Weston Planning Board continues disputed Wellesley Street scenic road rebuild to November 2. Chair Leslie Glynn and the full board expressed concern that the proposed seven-bedroom house at 645 Wellesley Street is too large and poorly suited to the site, which is constrained by a 100-foot wetland buffer and a 25-foot no-disturb zone; Glynn said the design "looks like a house that was imposed on the site." Two neighboring abutters echoed those concerns, with one citing fears that blasting for a seven-bedroom septic system in an area of heavy ledge would be "extremely disruptive." The board voted unanimously to approve both a limited site plan and an earth movement special permit for a childcare facility at 863 Boston Post Road, recommending the Zoning Board of Appeals deny a variance for a 28.3-square-foot sign and instead cap the sign at 20 square feet, consistent with the applicant's existing facility at 161 Boston Post Road. The board also closed the public hearing for a more favorably received renovation at 23 Old Road, praising the applicant's all-native planting plan and decision to preserve all existing trees on the site.
