Weston Planning Board continues hearings on 3A, ADU, water-tank bylaws to Nov. 20
WESTON — November 6, 2024 — Weston Planning Board opens public hearings on three zoning articles and continues all to Nov. 20. The board, chaired by Leslie Glynn, took testimony on an MBTA Communities 3A overlay zoning 750 units across roughly 50 acres at Boston Properties, Riverside Labs, Granite Brook, Maplewood, Charles River Recovery and the Whiteman Tennis Center; on a hybrid accessory-dwelling-unit bylaw designed to forestall state preemption when the Affordable Homes Act takes effect Feb. 2; and on a 410-foot elevation cap for three planned replacement water tanks. The board received 34 identical opposition letters on the 3A article and heard attorney Dan Hill argue, for Cat Rock neighbor Michael Chasen, that the water-tank framework could permit towers as tall as 285 feet at lower-elevation sites. Town Planner Imai Aiu disclosed that EOHLC had confirmed reopening Silver Hill station as a whistle stop would not increase Weston's unit obligation. The board separately approved a terrace and hot tub at 78 Mary Lane with an acoustical fence condition, and a pool house roof amendment at 297 Meadowbrook. Special Town Meeting is Dec. 3.
