Weston Planning Board Approves Tennis Camp, Advances Whitman Court Expansion Review

WESTON — June 26, 2024 — Weston Planning Board unanimously approved a special permit for a youth tennis camp at Whitman Tennis Center and advanced the club's three-court indoor expansion toward a July 10 vote. Chair Leslie Glynn led a more than three-hour session on June 26 that produced seven formal votes across six agenda items. The board closed the public hearing on a driveway redesign at 44 Legion Road and approved that decision, with engineer Joe Pickerly of High Point Engineering presenting a revised plan cutting the curb cut to 20 feet and removing roughly 500 square feet of impervious area. The Whitman camp permit covers up to 40 campers ages 8 to 16 for a single week, is valid for five years, and was approved unanimously after the club confirmed all staff have Corey background checks and the program is registered with the Commonwealth. The three-court, 21,000-square-foot expansion — with lighting reduced 40 percent from current levels — awaits a lighting consultant's review before a final vote. Three residential cases, including a contested squash court addition at 100 Black Oak Road and a roof-design dispute at 73 Corwood Drive, were continued to July 24.
