Weston Historical Commission Continues Glen Road Hearing, Clears Two Other Properties

WESTON — June 12, 2018 — Weston Historical Commission approves renovations at two historic properties and returns $63,000 in preservation funds. At its June 12 meeting, the commission voted unanimously to approve window replacements and a screened-porch addition at 90 Sunset Road, a 1936 stone house, accepting architect Keith's recommendation of Marvin Integrity Ultrex fiberglass windows to replicate original Hoppe steel sash. The commission also cleared window and chimney work at 143 Meadowbrook Road, a 1928 Craftsman house designed by Harold Graves, voting to waive a public hearing after finding the changes "not significant enough to warrant notification of neighbors," as member Henry S. Stone, Jr. put it. A public hearing for 270 Glen Road — a 1924 house whose owner wants to replace all windows and add a room above the sunroom — was continued after commission members said hand-drawn sketches were insufficient and stamped architectural drawings were required. The commission voted to return $63,000 in previously appropriated Community Preservation Act funds after DCR contractors repaired two historic 1891 cattle passes along the Cochituate Aqueduct Rail Trail at their own expense.
