Weston governance committee refines Select Board expansion warrant article

WESTON — March 6, 2025 — Weston committee tees up Select Board expansion question for May town meeting. The Town Governance Study Committee on March 6 refined draft warrant article language asking voters whether to grow the Select Board from three members to five and assigned member Michael Pappone to present the article at the May 6 Annual Town Meeting, on the rationale that former Select Board members on the committee could be perceived as biased. Chair Harvey Boshart said the Select Board responded favorably at a prior joint meeting but has not formally voted; the warrant goes to print at month's end. Member Kara Fleming warned a special election in "July or August might exclude many voters," and member Michael Harrity questioned whether the draft's "not later than 90 days" clause governs calling or holding the special election. Town Counsel Lauren Goldberg will be asked to clarify. A public hearing is set for March 27.
