Weston governance committee divides peer-town outreach on three-to-five question
WESTON — October 24, 2024 — Weston's Town Governance Study Committee narrows focus to the three-to-five Select Board question ahead of Town Meeting. Meeting Oct. 24 with a bare quorum, Chair Harvey Boshart, John Thompson, Michael Pappone and Michael Harrity divided peer-town interviews: Boshart took Holliston, Harrity took Milton, Thompson took Wayland and Concord, and absent Town Moderator Rip Hastings was assigned Sharon and Belmont. Reviewing Duxbury, Pappone said its survey ran 49 percent for expansion, 26 percent against and 25 percent indifferent, but called the rationale thin — "everyone's doing it, so we should." Members agreed to push interviews toward staff workload, contested-election rates, and volunteer recruitment. The committee will move to weekly meetings, with the next session tentatively Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 4 p.m.
